Established in 1986, NAMI Tennessee is a grassroots, non-profit, self-help organization made up of people with mental illness, their families and community members. NAMI Tennessee is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy. Through advocacy, the agency seeks to improve health for Tennesseans by supporting member-led organizing and mobilization efforts, educating policymakers, establishing alliances and partnerships with related and like-minded organizations, and conducting policy research and analysis. NAMI TN will increase its ability to coordinate organizational efforts statewide, mobilize members, build board leadership, increase the number of engagements with policymakers, and continue to build and strategize with like-minded organizations and university/academic partners.
