For 35 years, Safe Haven Family Shelter (SHFS) has served as the premier shelter-to-housing program in Middle Tennessee that accommodates families experiencing homelessness. The agency’s mission is “to lead our community’s efforts in order to house, support, empower and advocate for families experiencing homelessness.” The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include: 144 of 180 (80%) of families will gain access to affordable healthcare and all school aged children will be current on recommended immunizations. 75% of families housed through rapid rehousing will report a decreased F-SPDAT score in Managing Tenancy and Self-Care and Daily Living Skills as a result of increased housing and diversion strategies. 80% of families will report a decreased F-SPDAT score from program entry to departure in the following components: Mental Health, Wellness and Cognitive Functioning, and Physical Health and Wellness.
