Saint Thomas Health Fund is the fiscal agent for this grant, and the Nashville Academy of Medicine operates the program being funded. The Nashville Academy of Medicine was founded in 1821 as the professional society for physicians in Davidson County. The agency’s mission is to advocate for physicians, their patients and the community, promoting the highest standards of ethical medical practice, access to quality medical care, medical education and research. The organization’s focus is on three areas: physician health, practice health, and community health. The funds requested in the application will support program support for Project Access Nashville Specialty Care, enabling the agency to continue to provide medically necessary specialty care to the vulnerable, uninsured Nashville residents who are 200% or below of poverty through our network of volunteer physicians. Referrals to volunteer specialists for 200 new patients and 200 existing patients will result in 1,220 physician encounters, 150 hospital encounters, and $2,043,360 in total donated care.
