STEM Preparatory Academy is a growing network of open enrollment public schools, operating STEM Prep Middle (5-8), STEM Prep High (9-12), and the Nashville Newcomer Academy, serving a total of almost 1,000 students in the region. STEM Prep is dedicated to delivering a rigorous, inquiry-based education with a strategic focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The funds requested in the application will support a portion of the cost for one on-site mental health counselor to serve our newcomer middle school students as identified through our coordinated school-wide student warning sign screening and progress monitoring. 100% (200 of 200) of students referred for crisis intervention services will be seen within one week of referral. 80% (245 of 325) of students receiving crisis intervention or long-term counseling services will report 50% progress on the final Problem Severity Survey. 90% (135 of 150) of students and family members participating in group sessions and workshops will rate their service delivery as “Meets or Exceeds Expectation.”
