Disability Rights Tennessee (DRT) is a nonprofit civil legal services organization dedicated to protecting the rights of Tennesseans with disabilities. DRT’s work concentrates on three strategic areas: freedom from harm, freedom from discrimination, and freedom to participate in the community. For over thirty-five years, DRT has provided free legal advocacy to more than 40,000 clients across a wide range of disability rights issues. In addition, DRT positively affects Tennessee’s disability community as a whole through public policy and systemic advocacy. The funds requested in the application will support a sabbatical for the executive director. Costs include salary bonuses for existing staff, travel, a mindfulness retreat, and individual therapy.
