Since 1984, STARS has served some of our most disenfranchised populations by providing school-based prevention and intervention services, as well as intensive outpatient treatment services for adolescents with substance use and co-occurring disorders.  The mission of STARS is to support young people in overcoming social and emotional barriers through creative and innovative programs centering on prevention, intervention, treatment, trainings and compassion.  The agency’s goals/outcomes for the year include: 65 out of 100 (or 65%) students participating in the SAP and Enhanced SAP services will report issues with substance abuse, mental and/or behavioral health issues have improved.  35 out of 50 (or 70%) of students who participate in the literacy program will improve their reading score by a minimum of one level as reported by the school literacy coach
