United Cerebral Palsy of Middle Tennessee (UCP) was founded in 1983. The agency’s mission is to advance the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of individuals with all types of disabilities through a variety of hands on services. UCP also provides supports and information to family members and caregivers. The funds requested in the application will support Durable Medical and Adaptive Equipment placements to individuals with severe disabilities through funding of personnel, specialized cleaning equipment, supplies, inventory systems, program operational costs, and the warehouse where the equipment is housed. 1984 or 78% of 2533 anticipated total applicants to the program will receive durable medical equipment. 578 or 81% of 714 anticipated total individuals who receive therapeutic devices will report improvements in physical status, which may include pain reduction, decreased incidence of pressure sores, greater freedom of movement, and/or increase in muscle capacity.
