Established in 2002, the mission of The Mary Parrish Center is to provide a therapeutic transitional housing program and a myriad of loving, comprehensive services that enable survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence to heal from their abuse, reclaim their autonomy and reawaken their hopes and dreams. The funds requested in the application will support partial salaries for a therapist and office manager/victim advocate who will provide direct support services to residents. Among child and adult residents, 24 out of 26 (92%) total residents will report a reduction in the symptoms of PTSD as a result of physical, sexual, and/or psychological trauma (e.g., nightmares, hyper vigilance, sleep disruptions, and appetite disturbances) and will further report an increase in an overall sense of well-being and hopefulness.
